Our Beginnings
Winwood School of Motoring was established in 1955 by Charles Austin Winwood and operated mainly in Stratford-upon-Avon. Charles was one of the first instructors in the UK to become an approved driving instructor. He was a great believer in professional training and his influence lives on to this day. Since 1994 the school has operated in Towcester, Northamptonshire and has gone from strength to strength with thousands of successful customers. Winwood School of Motoring is now firmly established as one of the most recognised and respected driving schools in South Northants.

Qualified as an Approved Driving Instructor in 1995. Started Winwood School of Motoring in Towcester area and has been successfully trading there ever since.
Chris is a true car enthusiast and has competed in many different forms of motor sport over the years including rallying, sprints and hillclimbs.
Silverstone Driving Centre has employed Chris as an instructor in skid control and advanced road driving and the Porsche Driving Centre have employed Chris as a Driving Consultant.
Formerly a trainer at the British Telecom Training School in Staffordshire, Chris worked at the centre of telecommunication technology in the 80s and presented courses and lectures to BT Engineers for over 10 years. This experience of training expertise combined with a talent and passion for driving led naturally to the world of driving instruction when he left BT in 1994. Enthusiastic, patient and creative, Chris can unlock the talent that nearly all people have to become safe and proficient drivers.

Qualified as an Approved Driving Instructor and has worked part time in the business since then and recently became a full time instructor. Mark is very patient, polite, and friendly. He is particularly good with nervous pupils.
Mark shares the passion and enthusiasm for cars and driving which runs throughout Winwood School of Motoring. He has previously been employed within the motor trade working for BMW cars and Ducati Motorcycles and more recently was employed as a technical advisor for Kawasaki Motors Europe.
Trained by Chris through all of the instructor exams, Mark shares the same enthusiasm and drive to help all aspiring drivers achieve their full potential.
Our Cars
We use the new Citroén DS3 1.6HDi fitted with dual controls. This latest car is smart, sporty and very easy to drive. A highly adjustable driving position will ensure everybody from the tallest to the shortest can become comfortable behind the wheel.

Charges and Prices
We are a full time professional driving school which provides practical and theoretical training for customers intending to undertake the Driving Standards Agency's Practical and theoretical driving test in the United Kingdom. We employ fully trained Driving Instructors qualified and registered with the Driving Standards Agency. Our instructors are all CRB checked. We provide training in New/Nearly new modern cars fitted with dual controls.
